VPNnet uses BT's wires-only ADSL service. This means that no BT engineers need visit the client sites to set the service up.
DataComms provides a suitable pre-configured ADSL router, which is delivered to the specified user at the specified client site.
All the user has to do is plug the router into his normal BT telephone socket in place of his modem, and plug the router into the Ethernet port on his computer (USB connection can also be provided).
The user then follows the simple instructions provided with the router to log the computer on to the DataComms private network. This allows the user to access services attached to the clients' private network. Any further authentication is as required by the client organisation.
Each router is configured with a private network address. This restricts the user to the private network.
Access to the Internet is via either the DataComms firewall service, or via the client's own Internet access, as required.
The entire process is managed and supported by DataComms. DataComms' experienced support staff will deal with any difficulties experienced by the user during the implementation, and lessons learned will be used to improve the service provided. |
