DataComms defines an Intranet as "A network based on TCP/IP protocols (an Internet) belonging to an organization, usually a corporation, accessible only by the organization's members, employees, or others with authorization."
In the VPN Intranet, applications and infrastructure are combined.
The Intranet VPN is how and what information is shared internally, to all members of the organization, wherever employees maybe.
Purpose: -
- To connect two or more sites using encryption and the Internet
- To protect the resources at each site with a stable packet inspection firewall
Requirements at each site: -
- "Always On" connectivity to the Internet, including xDSL, Cable, Wireless, Static ISDN, Fractional E1, DS3, STM1
- One unused publicly available static IP Address
What we provide: -
- A secure VPN / firewall device at each location

IPSec fits into the Intranet mould by serving as an enabling technology for the building of multi-site Intranets on public network foundations.
VPNs, Firewall and strong user authentication tools (such as RADIUS Server) are useful for limiting access to Intranets, but they are worthless if not coupled with protective mechanisms for information flowing between Intranet sites.
IP Security software is installed on any Windows 9x/NT, 2000 PC and supports all IP-based network communications. It interfaces with existing network adapters and TCP/IP network stacks for maximum compatibility.
This is because it operates at the IP layer, it can support all IP services without modifications to any applications. Remote users can connect to their corporate gateways via Internet connections and establish secure VPN sessions to access sensitive network resources.
When installed on LAN clients, IP Security software establishes "Intranet VPN" connections to either critical application servers or internal VPN gateways. Whether internal or remote access, the VPN client transparently encrypts and authenticates critical data to protect against eavesdropping and malicious data tampering.
